The Jumping Super Rat - Ampersand in his Glory!
Finally got the video downloaded to the computer and now I am uploading it to the blog! Sorry for being so slow! The video has Steffi, Craig, Sheay, peter, Kirsten Remy, Roland and Ampersand of course and Chetters is hiding in peter's shirt! We had a ton of fun that night and of course the star of the show was Ampersand who jumped multiple times!! Unfortunately I had to settle for a smaller video as the one I wanted to upload was way too big! I will have to figure out an alternate way to get it onto the blog. Perhaps post to YouTube? I wonder if YouTube has limits...
We had lots of fun that night. Here are some more pics: Bogey staring at peter's belly because Chetters is hiding in p's shirt; Sheay posing and Steffi and her new scarf.

My dryer broke last week... I posted about it.
I've never really had to buy a big appliance before. But I went on line and checked out some of the usual suspects that would sell such items. Since I am not made of money, I wanted to check out the financing options.. I know those are offered as well. Seemed to be Leons had the best deal... and it is not far from home.
So, off we trotted Saturday to find that perfect "new" washer". Wow.. there's a lot of stuff out there... for tons of money too! YIKES! The one I chose was the bottom of the line cheapest one... but I wonder... was that the way to go? I was approached by one of the "piranhas". He was acutally pretty nice, for all that I thought he was just smelling "fresh meat" all over my demeanor. We set me up for their credit card, and for 0$ down, I had 6 months to pay. Since anything under $500 before tax does NOT have free delivery, I got the 2 year extra warranty.. might as well. So, all told, I charged $586.00 to this new card. Sigh. However... their deal is fair. I have 6 months to pay. Once we hit 6 months and there is a balance, I only pay interest on the amount left to pay, not for the initial amount. Sounds good to me. I got a bit of a nicer dryer, hoping it will have a longer basement life.
It comes today.. whoo hoo! No more draping my clothes all over the house, hoping they dry and don't smell funky... you all know what I mean... ugh!
Can anyone guess what I will be doing this afternoon?

All I Ever Wanted, All I Ever Needed
Well, the girls have made their picks so now it's my turn. They may be over 20 years as a band. They may have gone through drug addiction and bad tattoos. However, Depeche Mode still rock in my books.

Christmas Morning 2008

This is how thin Sicle used to be when I first took him in... I'm still not sure of his story.. he was fixed, de-clawed (so wrong!) and starving. He was cut all over, like he had been in a fight. Both of his hind feet were CAKED in poo to the point where he could not walk correctly. I worked and worked, slowly cleaning his feet to the point where you could see the pads again.
I think the day he found me, he was desperate to find help.
a rare moment..
O.C.
This is my boy O.C. Another stray.. he came with my last house when I moved in there. I befriended him and took care of him, as much as he would allow. He was a true "wild" cat, who never let anyone near. Until I took the time to gain his trust anyway. My vet had him fixed for me for free and we gave him his shots. He would come inside overnight when he was in the mood. When he wanted to be, he was a super affectionate cat. When not in the mood however, watch for loss of digits! He also went "walk-about" after the move to YBR. I miss him everyday. I know as animal people, we are not supposed to have favourites, but he had, and still has, a special place in my heart.
To Tabifur....
The feline population at YBR used to be bigger. This is Tabifur... yet another stray that found his way to me. I took care of him and when I moved to YBR, I took him along... after much agonizing over his best interests.
I am sorry to report that he went "walk-about" one day, being an outdoor sort, and never returned. I still look for him most nights when I arrive home, in case he decides to come back to us.
I can only hope that a loving family has taken him in.
High School Reunion

January 2007. Missing is Joanna, who took the picture, and Mark who was ill that day.
From left to right: Jeff, Mike, Me and Rob. It was so awesome to see eachother again. For some, it had been 20 years! wow!
(oh, and of course, the little kitty is Garbo... there are no pictures taken at the YBR without a cat in there somewhere!)

I went to go get the laundry and the dryer is running, but no heat is coming out. Well then. Its pretty old. I imagine getting a new one would just be more cost effective...so WHO has those "Don't pay for a year" ads again??????????? That will be me this weekend, darn it all to HECK!
grrrrr
grrrrr
I got it right!
I hope Kirstie moderates her comments soon... I got the poll right about her eye colour! whoo hoo!

And now for some healthy denial...
The Ladies
The Senior Citizen
Captain Hibiscus
And so ends another weekend
I never used to live for the weekends so much... but things certainly have changed. So much of what seems to be my "true" life happens on the weekend. When I get to spend the most of my time with Sheay. Most of my time with Craig. "Quality" time. Not that the rest of the week is a void, but it certainly lacks the substance of the weekend.
We played dominoes, we visited and played with family, we cleaned and organized the Rattkins cage, Craig set up the basement to do some painting (and he painted too), we had "movie vader at home" (For those of you not up on the Sheay lingo, that means we made it all dark, had popcorn and snacks, and all sat down together to watch a movie none of us have seen), we tried Spelt and Kamut flour pancakes (wow, do they ever fill you up and stick with you!)
It was pretty grand.
And so, I believe I might post one more awesome picture, then toddle off to bed with my book (book 3 of the Twilight series -- yes, I know it is for teens. I still enjoy it).
Goodnight.

The Rat Who Started it All!
Sheay at work on "The Sheay News"
I'm Just A Man, I'm Not A Hero
Well, for those of you who don't know me, I'm Craig.
I work at Paradigm Electronics, in their marketing department. They make high-end speakers. I can't afford one, but they tell me they sound real nice.
I studied fine arts at York Uni, and have a BFA. Woo hoo! I graduated from Sheridan College's Interpretive Illustration program. I guess I'm an artist. I freelanced for a year until I pissed my clients off and they stopped calling. I'm not bitter.
So now, I tend to doodle in my sketchbook a lot. I've a couple of jobs for friends of the nesting doll persuasion. The product turned out well, and I got paid. I'm grateful for that.
After all the pissing and moaning above, let me show you some stuff I've done...I think they're pretty cool. It's mostly doodles, random ideas I scribble down...but I'm pleased with them. Sit back, grab some popcorn. The show's about to begin...

and so it ends...hope you enjoyed it!
